DINA Center Pivka
The Dina Center in Pivka is an immersive educational centre that explores Slovenia's three large carnivores: wolf, lynx, and bear.
The challenge was to bridge the human and wildlife worlds by creating a multi-generational experience that educates visitors about carnivore conservation, their lives, habits, and ecological importance. Within an atmospheric forest setting, through VR and AR technologies, sounds, images, and different floor and wall projections, this unique exhibition comes to life.
As a lead UI designer, I helped co-create 10 multimedia stations featuring:
AR Tracking App: tablet-based scavenger hunt detecting invisible animal traces throughout the centre
Zverbook: social media-style platform with animal profiles, videos, galleries, memes, and educational content
"Quick feet" quiz: interactive big-screen team game teaching carnivore classification
3D Skull Analysis: camera-based “put-on” interface comparing bear skull sizes and evolutionary tooth development
cave experience: a cave-style space with touchscreen controls that project selected animal stories onto cave walls for group viewing
VR sensory experience: species-specific masks demonstrating perception differences between carnivores within the VR forest world
The centre's interior also required graphic design visuals, such as a large-scale evolutionary tree wall print, circular flower-like graphics comparing forest and wildlife facts, interactive volvelles (rotating wheel charts), and other additional elements throughout the park area that make visiting unique.
